Classical schools take an approach to education characterized by a traditional liberal arts and sciences curriculum and pedagogy, and an orientation towards truth, beauty, and goodness that aims to cultivate wise and virtuous citizens.

What are the core convictions of these Classical Academies?

Ø That each child is a person;

Ø That the minds and imaginations of children deserve a generous curriculum upon which to feast;

Ø That education is more about formation than information; that the end of education is moral;

Ø That schools serve - in loco parentis - in partnership with parents who are ultimately responsible for their children’s education.

At__________ Classical Academy, our educational vision recognizes the value of each child as a person and each parent as their primary educator. While teaching virtuous conduct and offering a generous curriculum, we prioritize the value of respecting and building the child's dignity as an individual while offering them an atmosphere which reflects truth, goodness, and beauty. We believe children have a natural appetite for knowledge, and we seek to offer sustenance for the child's mind by offering a generous curriculum for students to develop connections between all subjects.

What is a “generous” curriculum? A generous curriculum is simply an approach that supplies a feast of ideas and knowledge to students. At _________ Classical Academy, our academic program includes:

Our curriculum, which emphasizes the cultivation of virtue and civic responsibilities, is presented in such a way as to stir each child’s natural appetite for knowledge. A virtue based literature program that builds reading fluency and comprehension skills, journal writing, poetry recitations, music and fine arts appreciation, Latin, chronological connections and timelines in history, class discussions, hands-on science observations, and a rigorous mathematics program are just a few of the unique characteristics of our program.

Portions of our generous curriculum are rooted in the philosophies of E.D. Hirsch and Charlotte Mason. E.D. Hirsch is the creator of The Core Knowledge curriculum, which supplies rich classical humanities that align with Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS). Charlotte Mason was a teacher and educational philosopher in England during the reign of Queen Victoria. Miss Mason developed and refined applications for teaching classical ideas. She had a very high view of children and devoted special consideration for the education of their individualities.

Our priority is to cultivate in our students a lifelong love of learning and virtuous character, within the nurturing context of a 21st Century classical education. As a charter school, our mission is to provide hope through a high quality and accessible educational option to parents and students. As you consider _________ Classical Academy, we look forward to partnering with you in the education of your child.
