Announcements: |
7/19/2023 this communication went out to Founders Bastrop families. It was approved by Mr. Terry and Lynn Tompkins.
Dear Founders Bastrop Families- My name is Melanie Sharpless and I am the Regional Director for Founders Classical Academy of Bastrop. First let me say thank you for your patience as we have experienced a setback with the new school site. The team at Responsive Ed has asserted that all necessary requirements have been met, however, there is some confusion with the county, and we are working hard to resolve these issues as quickly as possible. Unfortunately, because of these delays, we will not begin school at the new property. However, we have secured a supplemental site and will be opening on August 16 as planned. We will house the school at two different locations. Grades K-4 will attend school at The Pentecostals of Bastrop Church at 261 FM 20, while grades 5-10 will remain at our current location of Bastrop First. We will stagger the start and end of the school day for those families who will have children at both locations. This is a temporary situation and our hope is that we will be able to move into our new buildings in the next few months. You are welcome to email me at msharpless@responsiveedtx.com and I will answer any questions you may have as best I can. Thank you so much and have a nice day.
261 FM 20
Bastrop, TX 78602
This property will be used to operate a TCPA school for the 2023-2024 school year. Note: This is a temporary school location, while construction work on our new relocation school is being completed. Also, this is in addition to the current Bastrop location at 609 Pecan Street, Bastrop, TX.

Brand Talking Points: Founders Classical Academy |
At Founders Classical Academy, we seek to provide a well-rounded education that is distinctively classical, pursues knowledge, promotes virtue, and prepares students for prosperous lives in a free society. Founders Classical Academies are public schools of choice in a private school setting. Students in grades K-12 need educators who are willing to guide them and help them become virtuous, responsible citizens. We offer a rigorous classical education in the liberal arts and sciences and we value applicants with real-world experience and education. Campus Talking Points: Add any talking points provided by campus below |
- Founders utilizes a classical approach to education characterized by a traditional liberal arts and sciences curriculum and whole-group teaching methodology with an orientation towards truth, beauty, and goodness.
- Our classical threefold method of instruction recognizes that all learning is built upon previous learning and that students learn in a hierarchical manner: systematic knowledge acquisition, dialectic and logic that is an extension of the knowledge, and rhetoric or the art of persuasion, which provides for the eloquent expression of thought.
- Our curriculum is more rigorous than that of a typical public school in the local ISD. We do require homework to be done and turned in on time. Reading and math are more advanced.
- As a public school, we are held to the same standards as other public schools in terms of testing, offering accomodations, etc. However, becuase of our size, this may look different than a typical public school. We like to meet with any parent of a student who has an IEP before registration is complete in order to determine whether we are a good fit for that student and can meet the parent's expectations.
- Our campus is small by design, which gives it a private school atmosphere where parents, faculty, and staff can work together for the benefit of each child. Though it may seem like a small private school, it is an established, tuition-free public school of choice. We do require uniforms.
